Profile — About Clare

Nutritional therapist & gut-health coach

My road back to health wasn’t a straight line.

I’m a nutritional therapist and gut-health coach — and before any of that, I was the woman who felt unwell every day and couldn’t get a clear answer as to why.

No. 01 — The long read

Four chapters · 5 min read

Chapter i.Years of feeling unwell

For a long time, feeling unwell was simply my normal. IBS, bloating and pain that came and went without warning. A tiredness that went deeper than any late night could explain. Later came a low thyroid diagnosis, and with it the slow realisation that my gut was inflamed and struggling — what’s often called a “leaky gut”.

Like so many women I now work with, I’d been down the road of tests and appointments. Some things were ruled out; very little was explained. I was left holding a handful of labels and no real idea of what to do next.

Chapter ii.Diet after diet — while raising a family

So I did what we all do: I tried things. Elimination diets, specific healing protocols, the latest plan that promised to fix everything. I followed them carefully — often while cooking entirely different meals for a busy, hungry family, and running on very little energy.

Some helped a little. Some made things worse. None of them came with an explanation of why, and none of them taught me what to do when symptoms flared up again.

“The turning point wasn’t a diet. It was finally understanding my own body.”

Chapter iii.Building my tool bag

Things began to change when I stopped looking for a single fix and started building knowledge. I learned how digestion really works, how the gut lining heals, what drives inflammation, and how food, stress, sleep and hormones all talk to each other.

Slowly, I built a tool bag of know-how — so that when something shifted, I could recognise what was going on and knew exactly what to reach for.

What’s in the tool bag

  • Recognising your personal symptom patterns
  • Knowing which foods soothe — and which don’t, for you
  • Simple steps for a flare day
  • Family-friendly meals that work for everyone
  • Routines that support energy & sleep
  • Confidence to keep going when progress is slow

Chapter iv.Why I do this work

I trained as a nutritional therapist because I wanted other women to have what I didn’t: a clear roadmap, a knowledgeable guide, and someone in their corner who truly understands. Someone who knows how hard it is to heal while life keeps going around you.

If there’s one thing my own journey taught me, it’s this: never give up. Healing takes time and it rarely goes in a straight line — but getting your health, your energy and your life back is worth every step.
